Elena’s Note

The lovely Steph pointed this wee note out to me last Thursday while we were walking on Sauchiehall Street. It was next to a shop with a six foot sculpture of a creature from Alien.

As she knows me so well Steph knew that I’d want to take a picture. And blog it. I found the note to be a really sweet and brave thing to do and I hoped that Elena found her man.

So intrigued was I that I decided to call her later to see if she had any joy. We had a wee chat and she sounded  very hopeful and positive that she would find her lovely man. I hope she does too. I’m going to call her tomorrow to see if her last ditch attempt worked. Good luck lady, good luck!

Listening

I’m listening to the music. I like this little gadget and I’m enjoying last.fm is helping me broaden my musical tastes. It’s a cool little music social networking app thing. Me like.

I’m tired today, met Roger from EQSN last night for a drinks, ran off leaving him to pay the bill. My bad. Sam and I ran off to Gamba for the best fish soup in the world. 50% of the people at our table agreed with that.

Won a pitch for creating the website for Glasgow Community and Safety Services. i pitched yesterday and given that all my kit failed and my presentation felt a little shoddy I was bowled over that I won the pitch. I’m looking forward to working with GCSS. Magic!

Tonight: Beer! With Mulvey! And Shea! Et al!

Sally, I’m up a tree! Still!

Food.

Cresswell Lane

Been doing all that lovely food stuff recently, off to Cafe Andaluz with the equally delectable Sam. We had some fantastic tapas but as usual I ordered one dish too many. I got to pick the wine though and I always seem to pick one bottle too few. Typical. Went to Buddha for beers and chat.

Friday I created a wonderfully soothing Palak Paneer curry type thing which was great as creamed spinach is one of my favs.

Saturday Sam, Anne, Mike and myself headed to some nice Indian restaurant that I can’t remember the name of. It’s on Church Street though. We had a crazy banquet thing and as I have learned over the years the one thing I never do is never to eat everything. It was good but I preferred my dish.

Tonight I’m cooking a cheeky chickpea curry thing. Struck gold there.

Oh yes.

Pink

img_0193.JPG

Great night last night with the good people from Buchanan Galleries. A wide and in deep discussion was had on a wide variety of topics including bodily functions, being ignored and new languages. We also had a cabaret too late on into the night.

So we drank some pink champagne and laughed alot. Not bad. Not bad at all. We were in Bobar and I have to say the staff were fantastic, very friendly and good fun. The Hallion was closed though. That wasn’t so good. But all in all a lovely night with lovely people. I don’t think I embarrased myself once though Rachel may disagree…. She wants to have a word about some lesbian chat I came up with. I don’t know….

The lesson of the night? Don’t mock Rachel’s camera know how. She has mad self portrait skillz!

Oh My Stars

Yes, we went out. And my camera paid for itself last night. Off to Capitol on Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street and we sang. Yup, that’s right, you heard right. sang. Though really the best bit wasn’t the singing but watching Marc bust his moves. Sweet jesus, I was feart. And had tears rolling down my cheeks. All captured on a 2Gb card that was very quickly filled up. And now shared to you.

Friday

All started off well, I went for some tea at the Hallion with Debs, Brian, Topher and Johnny. I had a great slab of meat with some lovely creamed spinach that Brian kindly shared. It was lovely and a great start to the evening. And a lovely bottle of wine there too. Sweet.

Then off to see C-90 at the Arches. I as surprised as I thought this was a stand up but it was a little bit of theatre. And it was beautiful. I can’t really go into what it was about, I can’t really remember. I laughed and felt sad and felt happy and felt that I had no idea what had happened at the end but I was elated that I had seen it. I want to see it again. I loved the fact that one of the characters decided to be a lollipop lady rather than a lawyer as she could then save the lives of thirty children a day. A thoughful, moving, funny, wonderfully performed show.

Couple of G&T’s after the show then it was time to take the five minute stroll to Barfly to see Beecake. Earlier in the evening I had a chat with Topher about the fear of seeing a friend’s band. What if it’s pish? What if you hate the music? What if? And then you have to see them and have to give the honest answer to the question,”What do you think?”.

I needn’t have worried. The guys we’re great, for me they really kicked in around the song “I’m Sorry”. It was brilliant to be there. I jumped along with the best of them. Also got to see some people I haven’t seen in a while which was great too, esp. the lovley Mark. What a surprise, what a treat.

After the boys finished I spent some time talking to people, went “backstage” (silly little room) and passed on my congratulations to the guys and talked about me being a roadie in LA for them. Which would be hilarious. Have to learn to tune guitars though…

Talked to some peeps, esp the people who came from Japan for the gig. They were lovely and very sweet. I wasn’t sure who was more excited about being there, them or me. It was good to meet fans that are fans rather than hiding in fucking forums being nasty and cruel about people that they haven’t met and don’t know. Scared, sorry little fuckers. Anyway…..

Then off back to the Hallion to drink and laugh. Billy, Mark, Aude and Ali came up after and we had a right good chat about the gig, the importance of stories and how you tune guitars. I’m also getting my Garage Band lesson soon too. Turns out my camera works just fine when I’m pissed too. Good camera, good.

I got a bus home. At 3.15am. That was weird, I don’t usually get a bus home at 3.15am. All good.

Style

Yes, yes, you heard right, style. It’s not something that I’m well known for but tomorrow I’m attending the Scottish Style Awards with some clients and the team at GRP. That means I have to get, emmmmm, styled up. Primark, here I come.Style of course is all very well. We recently launched a website for Ben De Lisi and his range of bathroom fittings. All very nice.

Tonight I’m off to a comedy club with some of the GRP team for some comedy. Which is useful.

Off to Primark tomorrow to buy a wee suit that will probably melt when I go in the rain. Pictures to follow of course…

Ding Dong!

Beauties and the Beast

GRP/biscuit away day on Friday to the ever so swanky Scotsman Hotel. I loved my room. It was a fantastic day, a wee treasure hunt in and around Edinburgh and then a meal with large glasses of wine. Then dancing. Then laughing. Then penthouses. Then bed. Then a great breakfast. Then home.
As always I was a bit of a wallflower, just kept myself to myself really. I would like to thank Pam and Claire for taking pity on me. And Steph too. And sorry to Julie for dropping her. I didn’t mean it. My bad.

Big Day

Jake's First Day

It was my son’s first day at school yesterday and while he was cool I was all teary as he entered the classroom for the first time. I was also a little teary placing his tie on. It’s not right that a 4 (nearly 5) year old should be wearing a tie. No where near right.
Went to Kelvingrove Art Gallery after his first day as a treat. Jakers was interested in Mummies, dead Giraffes and Google Earth.

Google Earth and Jakers

That’s my boy!

The Horror

The party's over...

A great night, a great party. Images and horror. I really should’ve won that dance off! Thanks to Marc for putting the video up to make me the next Internet superstar and also allowing me to channel his patented dance moves during the dance off.

Steph and Emma… Singing?..? More X rated than X factor…
