In these tough times all you really have is one thing.

We've had a bit of a week at work, some highs and some lows. Most interestingly though we knocked back work. We're not incredibly busy nor was the work uninteresting. We just didn't think we could do a great job in the time given. I could've said yes but that would have been lying to the client, frustrate the team and ultimately have us producing below par work which i imagine the client wouldn't have been happy with anyway.

It's a thousand times easier to say yes to a client then deal with the pain. However I'd rather that I bit the bullet and said no at any point during the process rather than just carrying on regardless once the scope's been changed so dramatically that we can't produce the best work.

We could've done it. They'll get someone else to do it to 'knock it out'. But if I do have to sour a relationship I'd rather do it as early as I can rather than wait until we are at the deadline then turn round and say that we could never have done on the timescales given. Integrity.

I'm a Grandfather

I went home last night with the kids to find that Jake is a father. Which was a surprise. Jake Junior is quite a cool cub and is really well behaved. I've offered to babysit as often as I can and Jake is just bowled over by the offer. You don't want to know how though what happened to Jake jr's mother. Something about going to Las Vegas and being killed by the Las Vegas ninjas. They showed no mercy. Jake risked life and limb to get the body back for a proper funeral. Respect!

Very interesting article in the use of language on getting people to sign up to your Twitter account. I imagine that this learning could be used across the board?

Of course you should follow me on Twitter here.
