We recently launched The Whisky Coast website which supports a host of distilleries that are on the west coast of Scotland. The site has been in a holding phase for a couple of months but we launched the final site yesterday. Sweeet.

Awesome website Stewart! I wish it had been around 2 years ago when d~ and I toured Scotland. The distillery tours were some of the most memorable parts of my trip. D~ doesn’t drink so I had samples for the both of us! Yikes! Driving on the left side of the road didn’t seem all that difficult after a distillery tour if you know what I mean. lol

oh this is brilliant…!! a diamond class rating on this one, mr stewart. i have had more fun touring this wee website…an hour’s gone by and i am not even done yet.
tasteful wee bit of play with the title: “dram[a]” (i like that)…love the histories (barbers doing wee medical procedures…?!! yikes!
“…no no, won’t hurt a bit…here, drink *this*…” ), the info on the distilleries, the accommodations….the wee pics on almost all of those (photos are *always* nice), and the maps pointing out where everything is. awesome…!! totally well laid out for the visitor to find what they need. kudos guys!
one wee notice tho… on the associates page…for the westin turnberry. there seems to be two letters transposed in “turnberry” in the picture banner at the top. if you get the time, would be nice to have those turned around. otherwise, perfection, as far as i’ve found!

Oh, but this is just brilliant! I’m truly impressed! I’d go, and I haven’t had a drop to drink in 14 & 1/2 years. The scenery alone is worth it, and I’d still tour the distilleries. I’m a lover of coastlines, I live on one, and this is definitely one I would love to experience. So I’d say the whole thing is a success since it really made me want to see it.
I did find an error, though. On the Laphroaig page, where Our Narrator explains the meaning of the place-name, the quotation marks are in the wrong place. It should read —Laphroaig means “the beautiful hollow by the broad bay” in Gaelic and remains the home of the no.1 Islay malt scotch whisky.—instead of Laphroaig means “the beautiful hollow by the broad bay in Gaelic” and remains the home of the no.1 Islay malt scotch whisky.

Nice informative website, kept simple and easy to navigate. Of that list of distilleries I have been to Talisker only.
There seems to be a “renaissance” happening with West Coast distilleries, with many apparently opening up after having been closed for some time. Here in Australia a local liquor chain recently promoted newly available whiskys from Islay and Jura. So I managed some tastings of Bruichladdich and was rewarded with a very tasty experience.

Was wondering if it’s possible to post a picture of the distilleries when their links are accessed long the left side. I know nothing about web design… probably a logistical nightmare right? All the pertinent information is included with each link (contact information, yada, yada…) but a picture is always appreciated. Do you think people look for the architectural quaintness of a place before they choose to visit or is it just me? lol Only a thought. Thanks.
