I love your proud papa comments. Good for Jake!!! So did you buy the new Ramsey book? If so, do you recommend it? The food you described that you made sounds really great, your family is lucky to have such yummy meals. I would love to have someone to cook for besides having friends occasionally over for a Bar-B-cue. Glad you are enjoying the weather. -K x

A hearty congratulations to Jake! I know the joy that floods the heart when your child does well and it makes their face glow. : ) So glad your family has had such a lovely start to May.

Lovely to read about your sons' achievements, well done to both Danny and Jake.

I remember Edinburgh 2nd May 1993. Pretty different weather back then to what you have described! I went for a job interview in uncomfortable shoes and it was minus 2 degrees so my feet were frozen. Very memorable being in agony walking through town.

May is not normally my favourite month, as it indicates the coming of Winter here in Australia. However, the cooler weather and recent rain has been welcome, and a (slight) relief from the dreadful drought we are suffering. (And by dreadful, I mean for our crops mainly, not about having to shower with a bucket to create water for the garden). So Clear blue skies have not been so welcome recently here, which is a shame.

There you are!

Congrats to little big man on his Apple award. I understand the pride, Taylor made Honor Role last time. We were all shocked. For an incurable and unrepentant imp like Taylor, that was pretty amazing. So yeah, mad props to Jakers. Those are the best surprises.

Weather here is scary dry. And HOT. (We have 4 seasons here in spite of what you may have heard: warm, hot, oh my God it's hot and Christmas.) Biggest wildfire in Georgia history going on right now and it's not nearly far enough away to suit me. I've seen the marshes burn. Due to high methane, they go up like you wouldn't believe.

Barbecue. Oh, yes, you have spoken to my very soul. I like it over oak or hickory with a bit of pecan or apple. It can make all the difference. Your wings sounded tasty, I love taragon! Can you get any of that green Tabasco sauce? This stuff is to die for. Holler if you need me to send you some.

The Apple Award is given to kid at school who have done good work. Danny, Jake's brother, has won a Golden Apple Award for winning 3 Apple Awards but Jake hasn't got one yet. The fact he got this one is a source of great joy for Jakers. I couldn't believe his eyes.

It's very cool that you love to cook. Do they have bratwurst in Scotland? (here's a cool link ... http://www.bratwurstpages.com/brats.html) It's the ultimate grilling food! Add a little spicy brown mustard, chopped onion and top it off with an ice cold pint of beer and you have yourself a feast!
On a random note... I wonder if Maypole dancing was the original form of 'pole' dancing? Not the kind of 'pole' dancing generally watched today. *snicker*
Take care.

I have just been speaking to a meteorologist from Inverness and he tells me that we should have good weather until the middle of May and then it's going to break. And that doesn't mean that we're in for a bad summer either.
