Excellent

More congrats to Mark and Martin who won a Yellow Pencil at the DA&D’s. This really is the Oscars of the design world and it’s a great honour to be on the winner’s list.

It doesn’t end there. At the IPA Best of Health awards we’re up for six awards including a few for the Be Books’ website. Which is exciting. We’ll see what happen in July!

My blogging has been seriously curtailed of late. This isn’t due to lack of things going on, far from it. I’m trying a couple of tools to help me write offline then send it up when I get connected. This helps me try to find the time to get write about things I enjoy wherever I want to and not be constrained by the lack of an Internet connection.

I am enjoying my Wii. Not loving it. Enjoying it. Though it does prove the tact that Nintendo set on as Sam has embraced her inner Wii with a vengeance. Which is another way to say I am fed up being beat by all that handle a Wiimote. A five year old humped me at boxing!

Things that I’m currently into: Twitter, scenario design, networking and how your online persona kisses with the real world, Yahoo! mash up, Modest Mouse, models, really good uses of the web that make me inspired, my camera, Guitar Hero II, Halo 3 Beta (I’m actually better than I remembered. At dying often), citizenship and the web, models (have I mentioned that before?), engineering mash ups.

Love that bull.

Busy

Work is crazy at the moment. All good. The Glasgow International Jazz Festival website should be live today and we also launched a website for Falkirk as a tourist venue a few weeks ago.

We’re also pitching for a number of clients which is taking up a chunk of my time and the team are putting to bed a number of websites that will be launched in the next couple of weeks. All good!

Strung

The election? Well no-one really won. The SNP got in with one seat and look that they are going to be in a minority government. This is very much unknown territory and it looks that the Liberals will hold the power in a number of key points given that they could decide to go either way depending on the issue.

It look highly unlikley that the SNP will get there vote on independence in this session of the parliament, I imagine that they are going to have to show the electorate that they can be a responsible party in power and hope for a larger majority in the next Scottish election. However given their minority government status it is going to be very, very difficult for them to push any major changes through. Well see.

Congrats to Kenny Gibson, an old client of ours, who became MSP for Cunninghame North.

Nick Robinson

Always good read but I think that I’d like Nick’s thoughts on the more interesting question on how the SNP would react to working with a London Conservative government if Labour lose the next general election.

BBC Election Blog

Has that Brian Taylor chap and coverage from around the UK.

I had more, I don’t have time though….

change

Tomorrow the UK goes to vote in the local council elections and up here we also vote for MSP’s for the Scottish Parliament. This could be the biggest change in Scotland’s political landscape for many generations as all the polls indicate the SNP are likely to hold the balance of power. If they do they have promised a referendum on Scottish Independence in the next two years.

I’m not keen on independence, I can’t see the benefits. This isn’t an election on that though, this is about giving Labour, and in turn Tony Blair, a good kicking at the polls. That I totally understand.

The feeling is that the SNP are going to romp home. This will be interesting to see if this will create voter apathy, if it’s such a foregone conclusion then what’s the point in voting? The weather is also going to play a part, it’s going to be fantastic weather. Does that help or hinder turn out?

I’ll be glued to the BBC tomorrow night to see how it all falls. Either way this Scottish election has massive implications for the UK as a whole.

In other news: I’ve bagged a Wii!

Hot

I love May. It’s my favourite month. Not my favourite time of year. That makes no sense but it’s what i feel. I did actually wash my face in the morning dew today. Maypoles and morris dancing thankfully don’t come past the border.

The weather for the past few days has been unseasonably wonderful. As I look out not a cloud spoils the view. An it’s due to last until the at least the weekend. This weekend is a long weekend here and I’m really hoping that I can hone my quite impressive barbecue skills even more.

Cooking. Made fresh pesto. And roasted pepper houmous. And chicken wings in mustard and tarragon. Sam was happy though her potato salad was a wonder to behold.

Jake won an Apple Award at school. He couldn’t believe his eyes. No one is prouder of him than me.

Ramsay’s got a new book out. Good. Also got this modern classic about the greatest hero of our time. Very good and created here in Glasgow. Nice.

I have more to say. Not enough time.
