Oblique Strategies

I’ve been playing with Oblique Strategies. I’ve been finding them useful in pushing through certain creative blocks when I’m doing documents. I’ve never been particularly natural in doing docs, I’m a better talker than writer. This little Mac widget is useful just to help think about an issue or problem on a different way.

As usual, a cool post. Your blogs are so addictive. When I read the category, Big on Small, it reminded me to share one of my own, and here it is:
“Layla rode in the Lexus float in the Savannah St Patrick’s day parade. I’ll try to get a pic as soon as. I decided at the age of 16 that if I had a son I wanted to name him Donovan. Not only was it celtic, it was just a cool name. Plus, it means dark warrior.
But six or so weeks ago, we looked up the meanings of our grandkid’s names and was surprised to find Layla means dark beauty. How cool is that? The year Layla was born Clapton did his now famous Unplugged performance. The new version of Layla caught fire, as I’m sure you all know. It was like the year Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band came out. There was nowhere you could go without hearing it. I remember hearing produce clerks singing it. Layla was born the following Feb. As fate would have it, she was named somewhat after her father, a dark beauty to go with our dark warrior. And now there’s an anniversary edition of the The Legendary Layla Sessions out!”
Anyway, that’s my Big on Small. It’s been nagging me to share it with you since I first read your Big on Small thing…
An interesting card:
“Make an exhaustive list of everything you might do and do the last thing on the list”
And the last item on the list was to take Steelso for a beer…
Oblique Strategy = “Do Something Boring”
I already do that - it’s called “much of my life”. Well, at least to some people I’m sure. Actually, I often find what other people consider boring to be quite interesting. I like chemistry. I like rocks. I like doing things many folks consider tedious. I like bluegrass music.
I haven’t done much of what I once planned to do with my life - but I like what I have done, what I have been, what I am being.
Here’s to boring!
Hope you are well and happy, Stewart
Interesting cards….I’ve never heard of them, but checked out the website link…..I may have to get me a set…..I spend way too much time in creative blocks….
Cheers Stewart!
I was checking out the link too and almost got them, but i’ve gotta save my money. Very interesting though.
