Starry, Starry, Starry

Whore

Well we won the pitch for Knockhill Racing Circuit which is great, I’m looking forward to getting into that and we’ve put the BeBooks website up for some awards so we’ll hold our breath, etc, etc. etc.

I’ve been down south visiting the nice people at Abacus (had a lovely chicken pate roll, magic) today and using the power of the International Web I’m posting today on a train using Wi-fi or as the French say, wee-fee. I prefer wee-fee. Lovely french.

I like train stations. I like airports too. I like places where people meet and leave either their lives, their fears, their dreams. I got some nice pics of York station and Knaresborough. I like it when you can see the emotion on people’s faces when the get off the plane and meet or. I also played with my Macro and that was cool, got some nature pics stuff. I liked playing. I have to get my flickr condom machine art group together. It annoys people I go out with. I go to the toilet and take pictures of condom machines. It amazes me.

More on that later…

On the train home someone had scratched WHORE into the back of the train seat. It also had a number that you could call. I suppose if you wanted a whore. I doubt that the person knew that their number was going up on the train. Oddly it looked as if it was put there by girls. I don’t know why I found that odd. But I did.

Sam is cool.

Busy

It’s been a while but I’ve been rushed. Went to Disneyland Paris with the kids and my ex last week for a few days which was hilarious. It quickly became about me rather than the kids. I met the main man above and could obnly say, “I love you”. Danny gave me kudos for this saying that I was the only Dad that got his pic taken with his new friends. Damn straight.

Various rides taken, many queues stood in but altogether a fantastic time. I hate the feckin dumbo ride that said 30 min wait but actually was 1hr 15min. And the kids loved it. Whatever. Pics on my Flickr.

Got back to Glasgow and went to see the Hold Steady at the Cathouse. Went with Sean, Sally and Sam. Way, way too many ’s’s to deal with and some considered it the worst Valemtines evah. I rocked out anyway. Which was odd. Then Bier Halle for poshness.

Friday and Gareth, Julia, Sam and I went to some fantastic Morrocan restaurant. Awwwwww. Then to Steph’s (not the Steph, another Steph) leaving party. I had never met her before but I think I left an impression.

Saturday was cool, watched a week’s worth of TV inc the brilliant Life on Mars. Happy that’s back.

Sunday went for sushi then cooked a fucking incredible carbonara that went down very well. I was like a real world fucking tv chef!

Today Sam and I went to see Hot Fuzz which is just so, so, so, so much fun. I implore you all to see it, it’s hilarious. Timothy Dalton is amazing and the action sequences… well. Kick arse. This shit got real. See it.

Then we went for the noodles, Sam went home (rubbish) and I met up with the lovely Neil McKinven for a quick chat then I headed home.

We also launched a website today. Sexual health website no less. With Miss Hoolie doing the voice over for the books. I was sick in Miss Hoolie’s bath once after drinking the classic combo of Blue label vodka and pineapple juice. Swish!

Since Saturday I have left in taxis my wallet, camera and ipod. I have also got them back. That luck will run out soon enough…

Pink

Great night last night with the good people from Buchanan Galleries. A wide and in deep discussion was had on a wide variety of topics including bodily functions, being ignored and new languages. We also had a cabaret too late on into the night.

So we drank some pink champagne and laughed alot. Not bad. Not bad at all. We were in Bobar and I have to say the staff were fantastic, very friendly and good fun. The Hallion was closed though. That wasn’t so good. But all in all a lovely night with lovely people. I don’t think I embarrased myself once though Rachel may disagree…. She wants to have a word about some lesbian chat I came up with. I don’t know….

The lesson of the night? Don’t mock Rachel’s camera know how. She has mad self portrait skillz!

Big on Small

Ticket Love
Ever since seeing Daniel Kitson’s show last week I’ve been slowly obsessing with the small things. The details that are the foundations of great experiences. I’ve no idea if that was the point of the show but it’s what I took away from it. No doubt I’ll be told otherwise.

So. I’ve been taking pictures on the tiny things that lift the everyday into a moment of special. My first real example was this ticket above. Last Tuesday I had to go down south but due to a fire outside Edinburgh all trains were cancelled and re-routed. I decide to abort my trip and head back to the office. Given that I was up at 5am and now heading back to Glasgow at 10am I was in a pretty fowl mood.

I had to buy a ticket in Edinburgh and while on the train back my conductor checked my ticket and punched it. All the usual stuff. But when I checked the ticket I noticed that he had punched a heart into it. I thought that it was amazing, it took a mundane thing into a smiley thing. And the more smiley things that can enter into your life a day, no matter how small, can only be good.

I am now constantly looking out for the tiny details that make for a better life. Join in.

Oh My Stars

Yes, we went out. And my camera paid for itself last night. Off to Capitol on Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street and we sang. Yup, that’s right, you heard right. sang. Though really the best bit wasn’t the singing but watching Marc bust his moves. Sweet jesus, I was feart. And had tears rolling down my cheeks. All captured on a 2Gb card that was very quickly filled up. And now shared to you.
