I Can’t Get Behind This
Guiness have launched a new way to enjoy stout at home. It’s called Guiness Surger and it seems way, way, way too much like hard work for me. You can only get it in certain shops and frankly when I go round to friends house for beer we want to get hammered rather than get involved in some weirdy science experiment. My drinking’s a hobby, not a gimmick. Tsk.

It seems to me that Guiness is suffering a bit more from the no smoking ban than we all thought. Guiness is the best when poured from a tap, and it’s crap when drinking it out of a can. No wonder they had to find a way to get that ‘fresh from the tap’ pint for the punters at home. No one’s going to the pub anymore, and now they’re just going to the offsales instead.
Being a perfect-guiness-pourer, I’d like to see how this new-fangled gadget works.
Well then, let me offer a toaste…this is one my stepfather uses all the time. It’s the only one I know.
“To it and at it. And to it and at it my friend. If you never get to it, then you’ll never get at it again.”
Makes absolutely no sense, I know. Bottoms up.
No one’s going to the pub anymore? Not where I’m living! I was told a joke by a Canadian on Xbox Live last night: “two Scotsmen walked past a this pub”. National stereotypes pass onwards.
After the 26th, most probably won’t be going to the pub anymore.
Except the boring lot of you who don’t smoke.
Love to know what you are basing your presumption on. You exciting smokers will just have to stand outside. A huge amount of people I’ve talked to who smoke have said that it’s a great dea and they wholly support thye move. In fact I’ve not met one smoker who has disapproved.
I’m basing my presumptions on the testing ground which is Ireland. Where Guiness comes from.
I’m sure those smokers are just telling you that to placate you and avoid a Stewart Steel Marathon of Debate.
I’m sure the smoking ban will be good in the long run, yadda yadda yadda. But I’m not looking forward to the first couple of weeks. Especially because I turn into a horrible monster when I try to quit.
Oh! Did I say ‘quit’? I meant ‘cut down’.
I’m proud to be a smoker! Of course, I only smoke whilst on fire… It’s one of those evil debates, it is. How lame are we that we can’t have fun without foreign substances, right?
Well, as an American Guiness afficionada, I think this new widget might be just the good time we’re looking for over here. It’s hard enough to find a good pub, let alone one that actually serves Guinness on tap (at least it is in my wee corner of nowhere). Puritans be damned!!!
We have several cities here that have instituted smoking bans in public. As far as I know, there have been no fatalities amonst smokers.
Cheers,
Elrawien
P.S. Hey, Stewart…I’m thinking of having my backend integrated…whaddya think? :-*
